“Sometimes you get what you want. Other times you get a lesson in patience, timing, alignment, empathy, compassion, faith, perseverance, resilience, humility, trust, meaning, awareness, resistance, purpose, clarity, grief, beauty and life. Either way, YOU WIN!” Brianna Wiest …Makeup & Photo: @Fatash Gh I was called to submit a portrait picture of me with all the dimensional instructions. Looked through the glass door of where I was, saw traffic, said how do I cross over for this picture and send in time? @FatashGh said “ah Kuburah give me your phone, stand here, let me try. She took this picture, didn’t even like it, set off to still go to photo store at Osu to take a professional one, meanwhile deadline time was almost close and I wasn’t anywhere close to the photo studio. I parked, selected this and sent via email saying better late than sorry in my head. Few minutes after sending it, I got an email reply  “ well received.” 🙌🏾 Took it for an important phase in my life. Pray for

Why You Shouldn’t Believe Everything Is Black And White On Social Media

A lady here saw me at the hospital and was too visibly shocked  I was holding a new baby. Out of unharmed curiosity she went like “Eh Diamonds so you were pregnant and didn’t tell us.” …your followers.” I smiled and said oh I didn’t tell you people eh? I am sorry. Forgive me. But truthfully, about 90% of the people who know me in real life, didn’t even see me pregnant. When I myself decided to inform them, a lot of them didn’t believe me till they visited to see for themselves. Usually Extroverts are sometimes very Introvert too. I am a mixture of both.  Then she kept wowing and I asked why? She said, “I am shocked because the way you are on social media this is a surprise. So you were pregnant and have even delivered? People will be shocked.”  My words to her: Oh after a month of delivery I myself announced it here so people will be informed. It was only in line I did that so those who felt I wasn’t honouring their invitations to events and interviews for sometime will take note.  But

Starting a Business with Kuburah Diamonds

Image
Everyone can become a business owner because we are in a world of limitless opportunities, some of these opportunities you have to create by yourself, others  you have to grab. Either ways you decide, just be great at becoming successful at it. It is a beautiful thing when a woman has power over her financial status. Therefore it is important that every woman makes an  effort into creating something that will give her financial liberation. This can start small with or without. Start  making the efforts now. Below are my own charted path I used into become a fashion retail owner and a social activist. Read through it and see if you can adapt or improvise. All the best.   1. PASSION: Before embarking on this business journey, there’s one thing I need you to be honest about and that is the PASSION you have towards starting a business. It is the beginning of how you feel about the whole business thing. Truth is there are loads of up and down in running a business, usually not all rosey as

Financial Empowerment Over Self Pity.

If he won’t eat the food you sweat by the fire to cook, knife cutting you or hot oil splashing on you, please proceed and eat alone, pray, bath and sleep. If there are kids or a kid eat with them and enjoy. You want to starve over a man who gives no hoot about you? If he won’t come home early and you are tired of complaining, pray for yourself first to sleep and wake up alive and then pray for him to be safe out there because no matter what if he’s harmed you will feel the pain. But please dont stay all night crying over a man who has no dignity?  A man who doesn’t stop to think that, you also need some love and cuddles?  A man who rather than strengthening his family bond, goes about chasing women? If he is not giving you the money to buy that beautiful thing you want, what’s stopping you from taking the money from your own  salary or the profit you make from running your own business to buy something you love once awhile? Instead of crying for a wish  that will never be fulfilled.

The makeup profession is saturated but it’s also a cash cow and most importantly this is what they themselves said they wanted to supported to learn so I personally believe if we are doing it for them, then we must teach them with all the other areas involved so they will be equipped well.” Sometimes, you can have all the skill but if you don’t manage the business well, it won’t take long for it to collapse. That’s not

We Don’t Need Autocratic Husbands.

“Adiza Ibrahim Sadiq, founder  of the Zongo Women Empowerment programme has spoken on behalf of all Zongo women that they do not want autocratic men who will not allow them take steps to becoming financially independent women. She explained to host, Eunice Dede Tornyi on eTV Ghana’s African Women’s Voices that in Islam, men are the leaders in a household and they are supposed to be responsible for the family’s upkeep, not to be autocratic, hence the women do not expect such behaviour. “Things are changing. If you’re not allowing her to pursue her dreams, it’s not fair. You married her with a degree and you’re telling her not to work because you don’t want her to go out there. When your wife grows and she becomes phenomenal, you become phenomenal yourself. We have a lot of women in the Zongo who have potential but some of the men don’t allow us”, she sounded to the men. According to Adiza, the Islam religion understands that women are worthy to be independent, hence liberates them, but
