In the studios of @joyprimeofficial this morning serving tantalising Zango meals. I was invited to to the show with my husband, and we thought it was also a moment to celebrate the Eid with our Christian brothers and sisters who are the crew  crew members of the show and since Eid is all about feast. We used the platform and opportunity tutu to symbolise that. It doesn’t matter whether one is from a different religious background. Islam teaches us to share foods with our neighbours. We had fun and they were super excited about the variety of Zango dishes and drink. We had tuo-Zaafi and a yo-yo, dawadawa JOLLOF, Waakye, plain rice, Wagashie,  lamunji and sobolo drink. Food was kind courtesy @Kuburah_Diamonds_Kitchen  Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The food of one person is enough for two, the food of two is enough for four, and the food of four is enough for eight.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2059. As we are drawing the curtains down for Ramadhan, May Ya Allah accept our heartfelt prayer. This is a ‘’Dua” recommended  for Muslims on the last night of Ramadan before iftar. 1. Oh Allah, please accept all of my prayers, fasting, and remembrance of You during this blessed month. 2. Please forgive me for the shortcomings in my worship and help me improve by next Ramadan. 3. Ya Allah, help me continue the good habits I have acquired during Ramadan. 4. Oh, Allah, please make me of the righteous, the guided, and those You love. 5. Ya Allah, please guide me and my family to the Straight Path and help us become excellent Muslims for Your sake. 6. I worship only You and only from You do I seek help. Please increase Your bounty for me. May Allah (SWT), grant us the opportunity to witness this night and accept our dua, amin! Credit: Musliminc.com

MY ACT OF CHARITY RAMADHAN 2020

Image
I love to cook and by Allah’s grace I used it very well this Ramadhan to put smiles on many faces. Most of them were needy others friends, colleagues, family I simply wanted to give food because of the season and the rest total strangers I haven’t met before but for social media, we got connected. I made special local drinks and dishes with love using our local natural ingredients and grains like Millet, Rice, Bens, Tamarind, Hibiscus, Ginger, Hwentia - Grains of Selorm, P3pr3, Pr3k3se, Pineapple, Negro Pepper, Cloves etc.  to make Sobolo, Lamungi, Zonkom, Hausa Koko and Koose. . . . Being charitable and providing for the needy and extending support to people you know or not is an important feature of the Muslim character. It is called Zakat “CHARITY” and it’s the 3rd Pillar of Islam. I am fulfilled, I am humbled by the mere the fact that, someone you don’t know from anywhere gladly accept to eat your food, I am humbled by the fact that, someone deems me fit and capable in s

DO YOU KNOW YOU CAN MARRY IN RAMADHAN?

Image
In Islam, there is nothing that prohibits performing marriages at any time of the year. The only restrictions pertain to consummating marriages during certain times. For instance, it is not allowed to consummate a marriage while fasting, or while one is in a state of consecration or ihram for performing Hajj or `Umrah but  as far as solemnizing marriage is concerned, there is no restriction to conclude it at any time even if this would be on the day of fasting as long as the Walimah and consummation of the marriage take place at night. It is absolutely fine to do so, as long as you plan to do both the Walimah and consummation of marriage after iftar(breaking of the fast) and not earlier during the day. Allah says in the Qur’an, (It is made lawful for you to approach your wives (in conjugal relations) on the night of fast. They are garments (of protection) for you and you are garments of (of protection for them))(Al-Baqarah 2: 187). Therefore, there is nothing objectionable f

THE AURA SURROUNDING “LAYLATUL QADRI” - NIGHT OF POWER CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19. THE PERSPECTIVE OF A MUSLIMAH.

She said with sadness on her face and disappointment in heart.  “I started following my grandmother for Tahajjud prayers since I was 5years,  though I  followed her just to go and sleep and wake up when they are done so we go back home because I was a little child, I knew we always went there  to worship Allah. At that tender age, I felt the sense of belongingness, togetherness and connection with our maker Allah so I know what it means to go for Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power). But today and for the first time in my life ever since I knew Allah and what Ramadan require in the last 10 days, I missed out on an important ritual because  of this deadly disease COVID-19, I prayed in Tahajjud in my house with my husband, we prayed but it felt a bit awkward, no Azan (Islamic Call to Prayer), the melodious voices that comes from different Imams reciting the Holy Book and praying earnestly from different locations in and around my neighbourhood which sends shivers down our spines and can ev

WHO IS A MOTHER?

Image
I  still struggle to find the right words to describe a mother, all I can say is a mother is a mother and not just an empty  title holder as a mother. Does this even make sense? Ermmmm A mother is an Earth Angel, selfless super - sweet loving being, creator of a harmonious home and conducive environment for everyone, protector and selfless person who believes in firm discipline hence makes sure every child grows upright. “It is your mother's right towards you that you should remember that she carried you in her womb for several months and nourished you with the sap of her life. She employed all her essence to keep and protect you. She did not care if she herself went hungry, while you were fed to satiety; or to go thirsty herself, while your thirst was quenched; or to have no clothes, while you were well-covered; or to stay in the hot sun, while you were sheltered; She ignored her sweet sleep and tolerated the pain of sleeplessness for your sake. She protected you against th

Why working and fasting shouldn’t stop us from fasting in Ramadhan. The early days discomforts gets better with time.

Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam so any  physically and mentally fit Muslim of age without any health implications who finds it difficult to fast because of they work is just lazy or trying to make excuses. Period! The purpose of fasting is for Muslims to learn self-restraint from indulgence in everyday pleasures, for self-discipline; to develop God-consciousness; to develop self-control; to purify the body; and to be emphatic with the poor and hungry. Bear in mind, according  to the Islamic Law, a sick person is exempt from fasting from 1 day or for all of 30 days depending on her condition (Pinar, 2002). A sick person is expected to make up the missed fasting days. If a person is unable to make up the missed days, he is expected to feed or pay the poor or needy to make it up. The Qur’an states “.... and whoever is ill or on a journey—then an equal number of other days. Therefore, if you don’t fall in this category, you are obligated to participat

MARRIED COUPLE WHO HAVE SEX DURING THE DAY IN RAMADHAN HAVE COMMITTED HARAM, HOWEVER THEY ARE PERMITTED TO DO IT FROM THE BREAK OF FAST TILL DAWN.

Image
Sexual Intercourse during the day in Ramadaan is haraam for men and women alike, who are obliged to fast during the day. Doing that is a sin for which expiation (kafaarah) must be offered. The kafaarah is to free a slave; if that is not possible then the person must fast for two consecutive months; whoever is not able to do that must feed sixty poor persons. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: Whilst we were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), a man came to him and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, I am doomed!” He said, “What happened?” He said, “I had intercourse with my wife when I was fasting [in Ramadaan].” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Are you able to free a slave?” He said, “No.” He said, “Are you able to fast for two consecutive months?” He said, “No.” He said, “Can you feed sixty poor persons?” He said, “No.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon

Women's Role To Keep The Home in Ramadhan Can Affect Their Time For Supplication and Quran Recitation If They Don't Plan Their Time Well.

Image
Dutiful and responsible wives, mothers, aunties, sisters and grandmothers receive so much blessings every time of their lives but in the month of Ramadan receive even more blessing because of the role they play in keeping the home running. Due to this, they might miss fulfilling some significant element of Ramadhan. Sometimes, intentionally or unintentionally, the multiple roles they play, prevent them from performing some key essentials that comes with the beautiful month. Instead, they strive on doing  things to please mankind. (Husband, children, nuclear and extended family). Except a nursing mother  or a woman who's in her  period, every mother and wife must fast and still still ensure that her  home is conducive so her family will be well and hearty. “Fasting in the month of Ramadan is obligatory for all Muslim men and women. It is mentioned in the Holy Quran, Surah al-Baqarah, Verse 183, “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for
