Muslim Marriage

Yesterday and today have been a very special day in my life because  it makes me believe that, anything is possible once we decide and put our minds to it. Two people I know whom I assumed  could have marry and extravagantly change  into several outfits have  surprised me. Really surprised me.

The one who got married yesterday is a fashionista and could have easily afford to change into any number of outfits she wished  but surprisingly she went a modest way.

Another  friend I have known since 2009  to be a business woman who travels  to Nigeria and back to bring clothes, fabrics and accessories like Laces, Fabrics, Gele and more to sell also got married today in a very modest way.

Am sure some of our Muslim sisters  who know her or probably live in the same neighbourhood with her will wonder why such a person who’s expected to rather change outfits on her marriage day because of the kind of business she runs, rather went the opposite way.

Indeed, marriage is a beautiful thing.
Whether you the bride change a hundred times or not, once Allah validates the day as your marriage day, it will end in praise.

Fact that these two beautiful brides didn’t change into several clothes doesn’t mean their marriage isn’t validated by the Almighty Allah. They both could have afforded to look anyhow and any number of times but they chose doing things in moderation.

They understand the fact that, marriage celebration is just but a day and the real marriage is after the fan fair and so even if you the bride think you can afford it on your own or by the support of your husband or parents, think about tomorrow and do things in moderation and what the Almighty Allah will be pleased with.

They understand the fact that, changing into several clothes can be done but done in moderation even if you can afford it.

They understand the fact that, as brides, we don’t  even need to start changing into several outfits 3 days or 4 days before the marriage itself is blessed.

They understand the fact that, changing into several outfits is not stated in the Holy Quran, but we ourselves brought it upon our lives  and so it’s rare to see a bride not succumbing to what the society have set but they still  changed the narrative.

They didn’t  mix stolen  cultural with the Islamic way of marriage.

Just like yesterday’s bride, she also slated just  a day celebration and Alhamdulliah it didn’t take away anything from their respective marriages but rather saved them some money money that they can channel into profitable avenues to yield profits later on in the future, they also utilised their time well and swerved the stress of going and coming out to show themselves and their outfits to the same society will sit and watch in exciting pretence but  judge them and gossip later.

Congratulations to you Salma Ahmed. Proud of you and how grounded you are on your decisions. Your husband is lucky to have you as a wife. All the best in your new journey. I know you will make a beautiful wife and build a beautiful home.
